28-amino acid thymic peptide that modulates immune function through dendritic cell maturation and T-cell differentiation. 99% purity, lyophilized. Synthesized in a cGMP facility with stringent quality controls.
Thymosin Alpha-1 (Ta1) is a 28-amino acid peptide (MW ~3,108 Da) originally isolated from thymic tissue by Allan Goldstein at the George Washington University. It is the N-terminal fragment of prothymosin alpha and has been extensively studied for its immunomodulatory properties, with an approved pharmaceutical form (thymalfasin) used in over 30 countries.
Research investigations have examined Thymosin Alpha-1's effects on both innate and adaptive immune function. Studies have documented its role in promoting dendritic cell maturation, enhancing major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I expression, and facilitating T-cell differentiation from thymic precursors. Preclinical and clinical research has investigated its effects on T-helper cell polarization (Th1/Th2 balance), natural killer cell activation, and toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling modulation. Investigators have also explored its potential role in vaccine adjuvancy and immunodeficiency research models.
The mechanism of action involves TLR9-dependent activation of myeloid and plasmacytoid dendritic cells, leading to enhanced antigen presentation, type I interferon production, and downstream T-cell priming. Ta1 has also been shown to activate p38 MAPK signaling in immune cell populations.
Viking Labs synthesizes research-grade Thymosin Alpha-1 at a USA-based cGMP facility. Independent HPLC analysis verifies 99%+ purity on every batch. Certificate of Analysis included, batch serialized, sterile filled.
